Greetings,
Shanti Radha Shilp Udyog Prakshikshan Kendra, based in Chandauli district near Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh, is a dedicated institution committed to empowering women through skill development while also advancing child literacy among underprivileged communities.
The foundation of this institution was laid in 1982 by its patron, Shanti Radha, with the support of her husband and very limited personal resources. The vision was simple yet powerful – to equip women with practical skills for economic independence and to ensure that children from deprived sections are not left behind in education.
In 1987-88, this initiative gained formal identity as Shanti Radha Shilp Udyog Praskhikshan Kendra. With guidance from the Social Welfare Department, the centre later received recognition from the Government of Uttar Pradesh as a technical educational institution.
Over the years, the organisation faced significant challenges. Following the unfortunate demise of the patron’s husband and continued financial constraints, the institution struggled to grow at the pace it deserved. While many newer institutions received stronger financial backing and resources, this women-focused centre in Chandauli continued its work with resilience despite limited support.
Yet, the resolve of Shanti Radha never weakened.
Today, we stand at the beginning of a renewed phase – committed to reviving, strengthening, and expanding this historic institution to serve both women and children more effectively.
Our collective pledge is clear: we will not allow this centre to fade. Instead, we aim to transform it into a strong hub for skill development, employment generation, and child literacy in the district.
